I work in many different materials. I begin observationally from the everyday clutter around me; the clutter is a metaphor for the pressure of time and space we live in. I look for organization that will craete a calmer world that can be found amidst the clutter. An object can blend with a neighboring object to create a new image, a new language to deal with, to navigate the chaos. Sometimes these images take on the suggestion of a human form, a figure or figures. They emerge as a physical response I have to the world and my surroundings.
The environments are ambiguous. Through examination of these forces in our day-to-day lives I try to create images that are relatable, that the viewer can immediately respond to and perhaps realize this chaos is universal and part of our contemporary world today. Through this examination and excavation perhaps a calm can be found.
